My name is Candice. I’m a writer, story teller, voracious reader and constant learner.

I was raised in New York, spent seven years in Texas and went to high school near Seattle. I went to college in Oregon. No, I am not a UofO graduate. My school didn’t even have a journalism program. What it did have was a rag-tag daily paper with a sharp, dedicated, diverse staff. That’s where I fell in love with journalism.

In school, I interned with a few small papers and The Oregonian in Portland. After a summer internship at New York Newsday, I was lucky enough to land a two-year internship at the Long Island-based paper. I currently live in Brooklyn and commute to Long Island to report on  the city of Long Beach.

In work and in life, I love to think, have real conversations with real people and learn. In my spare time I run, adventure, go outside and eat good food. I love animals and hate rude people.
